What is OLED?
OLED is an organic light-emitting diode containing thin flexible sheets of organic electroluminescent material used for visual displays. The magic in OLED technology is the electroluminescent substance that produces the desired color. The most basic difference between an LCD TV versus OLED TV is that each pixel provides its own illumination, while all of the pixels in an LCD TV are illuminated by an LED backlight. There is no comparison when it comes to OLED versus LCD and here’s why:
- LCD TV: use a backlight to illuminate their pixels.
- Brightness cannot be controlled and is very limited.
- LED backlights sit to the side of the display, not right behind it.
- In a dark room, an LCD TV cannot produce a perfect black because the backlight shows through.
- Also known as contrast ratio.
- Whites are a thousand times brighter then the blacks.
- OLED TV: pixels produce their own light.
- Brightness of an OLED display can be controlled pixel by pixel.
- You get infinite contrast ratio.
- An OLED TV works without backlight and thus produces deep black levels (TRUE BLACK).
- Thinner and lighter than an LCD.
LG OLED uses revolutionary self-lighting pixels, individually controlled to achieve perfect black and infinite contrast. It has an expanded color palette virtually identical to today’s digital cinemas, enjoyable from a wide viewing angle. LG OLED 4K TVs also support standard HDR and Dolby Vision™*.
The individually illuminating OLED pixels can brighten, dim, and power off fully to achieve perfect black. That means contrast, the ratio between the lightest and darkest areas of the screen, is truly infinite. Perfect black is essential to a more lifelike image as well as the great shadow detail you can only get with OLED.
LG OLED TVs display a color palette that virtually matches the vast range of hues seen in today’s high-end digital cinemas. With over a billion rich colors at its disposal, LG OLED TV delivers a theater-quality experience at home.
OLED HDR delivers a stunning high dynamic range picture, including support for Dolby Vision™* content. Enjoy brilliant brights and the deepest darks for infinite contrast, rich color, and an exceptional viewing experience, closer to what filmmakers intended. With their perfect black and cinematic color, LG OLED TVs have also earned prestigious Ultra HD Premium certification.
Wide Viewing Angle
LG OLED TV’s exceptional picture quality holds up even from wide viewing angles, so now everyone on the couch will have an ideal view of the action.
Slim, stylish LG OLED TVs are available with curved or flat screens in a range of sizes. Wall-mounted or on a tabletop, each complements the most elegant décor. Both the E6 and the flagship LG SIGNATURE OLED TV feature unique Picture-on-Glass technology. TV Wall Mounts, When Size Matters
A variety of TV wall mounts on the market today are universal. This means that they are capable of holding most flat screen TVs that range in size from 30-inches to 60-inches (measured diagonally). For larger flat screen TV sizes, 75-inches to 120-inches using a store bought wall-mounting kit or an installation contractor that does not have enough experience mounting larger flat panel displays on the wall, can mean the difference between having a safe environment or not. It is just that simple.
Large TV Mount: A Guide on What you need to Know
A TV mount can make or break the viewing experience. A successful installation is safe, easy to view, and appealing to the eye, and to meet those requirements, you need the right mount and installation contractor. To properly support and protect the display while maximizing the overall investment, consider the following tips:
Choosing the correct TV mounting solution is the key to a successful installation. Universal mounts are ideal because they are adjustable to support a wide range of flat panel brands and models. It’s crucial to use the correct fasteners for the specific wall/ceiling structure (e.g., wood studs, concrete and metal studs). Be sure the mount manufacturer includes or makes available all the hardware required for your specific application before you begin the installation.
Use Only Qualified Mounts:
Be sure you are using mounts that have been tested and qualified. Select only UL-listed mounts to ensure that the mount can handle the weight and stresses placed on its hardware and fasteners. Mounts that are VESA compliant conform to all the mechanical requirements of flat panels, further ensuring reliability. ISO 9001 certified facilities produce mounts with the highest level of quality assurance.
Consider the Overall Installation:
Where are the power and AV cables coming from and how will they be addressed? Know in advance, what make and model of flat panel you will be installing so you can locate the power and signal connections in the wall or ceiling accordingly. And how will you handle cord management? Some mount manufacturers offer integrated cord management systems to hide wires and cables, which keeps the installation looking clean and neat.
Understand the Final Application:
You should have a thorough understanding of the room environment and all of the desired viewing locations in order to select a mount with the right features, such as tilting, pivoting, or Full-Motion Plus Wall.
Make Sure the Structure is Strong Enough:
If you are working with new construction, examine the structure of the wall or ceiling installation area to ensure it will support the intended load. Make sure you consider both the weight of the flat panel and the mount hardware. If the installation area is questionable, it is a good idea to consult with a qualified installation contractor like Shultz Audio Video.
