Shultz Audio Video Helps Saves Lives on the Beaches of San Diego…
From shark attacks to big waves and other types of beach hazards, lifeguards in San Diego work hard to keep the public safe. With such a diverse coastline in that includes sandy beaches, underwater reefs, coastal cliffs, rock jetties and piers, all of which create unique hazards for beach patrons. Keeping the public safe isn’t always easy. Especially when you consider San Diego’s rip currents, the most threatening hazard of all along San Diego’s coast.
In an effort to avoid tragic accidents, lifeguards use a PA system (early warning system) to warn people if they look like they’re about to get in trouble. Early warning systems aim to alert beach goers of a hazard from a base station using an outdoorloudspeaker system. But in order to deliver an alert loud enough to warn people to get out of the water in time and out of danger the speaker itself must provide focused, very high output sound projection.
For this reason, the lifeguards of Fletcher Cove turned to Shultz Audio Video for help. Fletcher Cove, also commonly known as Pillbox because of its history as a WWII Gunnery installation, is the main beach park in the City of Solana Beach. Lifeguards are on duty year round at Fletcher Cove, so having a outdoorloudspeaker system is important. That’s why Shultz Audio Video designed their loudspeaker system with Community Professional Loudspeakers.
OUTDOOR PA SYSTEMS
Outdoor public address systems provide instant voice communication for daily announcements and public notifications during emergency situations.
Community Professional Loudspeakers
Community is well known for high-performance outdoor loudspeaker systems such as its R SERIES. Community’s products serve applications ranging from houses of worship to sporting venues and transportation terminals.
FLETCHER COVE LIFEGUARD STATION
Needed the right speakers to provide live-voice paging from the lifeguard station for increased safety and public communication at the beach.
Outdoor Public Address System
For Flectcher Cove Lifeguards/Solana Beach
Outdoor Public Address systems provide instant voice communication for daily announcements and public notifications during emergency situations.
The lifeguards at Fletcher Cove were looking to update their Outdoor Public Address system used for live-voice paging from the lifeguard station for beach safety with speakers that could stand up to weather as well as the corroding elements present in beach air.
Our solution to meet the requirements of Fletcher Cove’s lifeguards consisted of: adding two outdoor weather resistant loudspeakers for high level paging, each providing focused, very high output sound projection, with predictable performance and exceptional long-term durability to provide full beachfront overhead voice messaging. The whole system installation process was relatively simple.
LOUDSPEAKER FOR HIGH LEVEL PAGING
The R.5 provides focused, very high output sound projection, with predictable performance and exceptional long-term durability.
Loudspeaker Type Used: Dual-Driver Horn-Loaded Paging System
Weather-Resistant Loudspeaker for High Level Paging
The R.5-V2200 by Community Professional Loudspeakers is a complete horn/driver system designed for use in voice-range sound reinforcement and announcement / signaling applications. It provides focused, very high output sound projection, with predictable performance and exceptional long-term durability.
The horn portion of the assembly is a hand crafted one piece patented focused Array TM waveguide, precision molded in hand laminated reinforced fiberglass for optimum performance. The fiberglass horn is enclosed in a roto-molded polyethylene enclosure providing weather and UV resistance and incorporating a Weather-Stop grille. The inherent strength and rigidity of the systems construction enhances sonic efficiency by preventing sound energy loss as well as providing a highly weather-resistant installed loudspeaker system.
The compression drivers are high output, high sensitivity loudspeakers configured with the diaphragm facing forward, isolating the voice coil and magnetic structure of each driver from the environment. The one-piece, non-metallic diaphragm/suspension offers exceptional resistance to the effects of humidity, dust, and corrosive atmospheres. A fiberglass rear cover protects the drivers from the effects of weather and corrosion.
