El Camino High School Track & Field Audio Upgrade in Oceanside, CA

When a school hosts track and field events, clear audio is not optional. Coaches need to communicate. Announcements must be heard. Music should sound clean and steady from start to finish.

At El Camino High School in Oceanside, CA the existing track and field audio system could no longer keep up. The speakers were failing. The sound source was unreliable. Wireless microphones were also hard to understand and worked only part of the time.

Shultz Audio Video was brought in to refresh the system and make it easier to use for staff during practices, meets, and school events.

El Camino High School needed a better audio system for a large outdoor track and field area. Their old setup was outdated and no longer delivered the sound quality the space required.

The speakers were failing, which hurt coverage and clarity. The sound source was also breaking down, so the system could not be trusted when it mattered most.

On top of that, the wireless microphones were unintelligible and sporadic. That made voice announcements difficult to hear in both the bleachers and on the field.

The school needed a solution that would improve sound, simplify control, and make smart use of any equipment that could still serve the new system.

The goal was simple. Deliver clear voice and music across the field and into the bleachers. At the same time, keep the system easy to use for staff.

To make that happen, Shultz Audio Video installed Electro-Voice EVF-122D weatherized speakers, a Dynacore 1PX10:8 amplifier, and an Electro-Voice MXE5-64. We also repurposed the existing wireless microphones and equipment rack, which helped preserve value from equipment that still had life left in it.

The project was completed successfully and delivered a major improvement in both sound quality and ease of use. Shultz Audio Video achieved decibel levels of over 80 dB at field level. As a result, clear voice and music can now be heard across the field and throughout the bleachers.

Staff also gained a system that is far easier to manage. With touchscreen control in place, daily operation is more simple, more reliable, and more efficient.

Most important, El Camino High School now has an outdoor audio system that supports better communication during track and field events. The new setup gives the school dependable performance, better coverage, and a cleaner experience for athletes, staff, and spectators.
