Project Description

AV Upgrades: Padre Dam Boardroom

As the boardroom needs of businesses in San Diego grow, Shultz Audio Video has been there to ensure these meeting spaces are well equipped and up to date with the latest technology. We recently completed boardroom AV upgrades for Padre Dam Water District, transforming their space into an optimal environment for different meeting formats. Padre Dam serves more than 100,000 residents in East San Diego County with water, wastewater, recycled water, and recreation services for parks.

We collaborated closely with Padre Dam to execute their boardroom AV upgrades in their San Diego, California, boardroom. This project aimed to modernize the boardroom’s audio-visual infrastructure to accommodate various meeting formats, including in-person gatherings, hybrid meetings, and broadcast sessions.

The upgrades included monitors, speakers, microphones, and advanced control solutions. In addition, we installed a new video conferencing system for their dedicated conference room, where they hold private meetings.

Challenge #1 Boardroom AV Upgrades

The audio set-up prevented in-room and remote participants from hearing one another. Video was a challenge, too, due to the equipment they had.

Solution: To resolve these conferencing issues, Padre Dam brought Shultz Audio Video in. After seeing the boardroom and understanding the issues, we recommended updating and expanding the system.

The solution included, 18 hardwired 12-inch gooseneck Microphones, 18 new monitors, 20 in-ceiling speakers, two 85″ displays, one 65″ display, video switching, and a 12″ touchscreen Atlona to control everything. The microphones feature Microflex technology which focuses on voices. While the speakers provide optimum sound for meetings, making use of the excellent projection provided by the in-ceiling speakers to ensure ample volume and clarity right to the back of the room.

In addition to this, it also included several PTZ Cameras mounted on the ceiling. These enterprise-grade PTZ cameras designed for use in video conferencing delivers high performance, professional-quality imaging, as well as fast and accurate auto-focusing, and a fast yet quiet pan and tilt mechanism.

Result: The new system completely transformed the whole dynamic. Now, everyone can hear the person who is speaking on both ends (those joining in-person and those joining remotely). And, our client can see even the finest details with their new PTZ cameras.

Challenge #2: Conference Room Video Conferencing System

They needed a system for their dedicated conference room to hold private meetings.

Solution: The solution included one RM-CG ceiling microphone, one RM-CR signal processor, one network switch, and two line array speakers. The RM-CG dynamic ceiling array microphone features multi-beam tracking technology which focuses on voices. While the speakers provide optimum sound for meetings, making use of the excellent projection provided by the VXL1-16P to ensure ample volume and clarity right to the back of the room. We also installed a 75″ display that ensures all participants can see the presented content, enhancing our meetings’ effectiveness. And, a 12″ Atlona touchscreen to control the system.

Result: They now have a smoothly operated, user-friendly conference room that anyone can use with their own device (BYOD) for private meetings.
