Wall Mounted TV Over A Fireplace

San Diego, want to learn about wall mount TV types, services, and cost? Everyone knows that a wall mounted TV is one of the easiest ways to save on living room space. In fact, not only does a wall mounted TV help you save space, but it also makes homes look stylish. No to mention the fact that when you add the right wall mount for your TV, it helps to ensure the most optimal viewing angle.

But, mounting a TV on the wall is not as easy as one might think. In fact, the most common issues one faces when buying a TV mount, is getting the wrong one. Additionally, improper installation of the TV mount is another big mistake. In fact, improper installs account for over 90% of installation failures.

The problem with this, is that when you do make the mistake of buying the wrong TV wall mount or not installing one properly, both have the same result. The TV falls off the wall resulting in damage. The truth is, your TV does not have to be an eye sore. The key to a successful TV installation is having all the facts. For this reason, we offer some insight on how to plan your TV installation project.

TV Wall Mounting: Placement & Viewing Angle

The two most overlooked and often never considered items when installing a TV wall mount, is placement and viewing angle. Ideally, your eyes should be level with the middle of your screen if you want your experiences to be enjoyable. Put simply, TV viewing angle is defined by the maximum angle at which a TV can be viewed without losing brightness or experiencing color shifts. Or put another way, ideal viewing is or can be defined as, watching TV directly in front of your TV screen, at eye level. So, if the viewing angle is not right and has thus moved off center, either vertically or horizontally, TV picture quality will begin to decrease, the screen will dim, and colors will fade.

Types of TV Mounts

TV wall mounts offer a way for you to seamlessly blend your home audiovisual systems with the décor of your home. It reduces clutter; saves space and can dramatically enhance your view. TV all mounts range from basic fixed mount designs, to ones that offer unlimited flexibility for positing a TV. There are two basic types of wall mount designs and while the quality and functionality will vary from brand to brand, the two types are a constant. One type will mount a TV nearly flush against the wall with no articulation, and the other provides the ability to move and position a TV.

Fixed Mount: simple, basic, and low cost, this type of mount places the TV close to the wall. Once the mount is installed, there is no way to move it. Or put simply, this type of mount is good for those who sit directly in front of their TVs. Important to make note of, this type of mount only works when all other considerations fall in line. That is, seating and TV position are at optimal viewing angle. If it is impossible to position the TV at the ideal height, with the center of the screen at eye-level, this is not the mount for you.

Tilt Mount: this type of mount makes it easy to compensate for a TV positioned above the optimal viewing angle. There is a tilt mechanism that helps the TV to be spaced further from the wall, by 2”. A good choice for hanging a TV above the fireplace, or high on a bedroom wall.

Tilt/Swivel Mount: this type of mount has a side-to-side swivel adjustment. This type of wall mount makes sense when a TV needs to be angled to provide the best viewing angle from more than one spot. Typical installs of this type of TV wall mount range from wanting to watch TV from more than one room when they are close in proximity.
